44 Years. Same Building.
Same Commitment.
South Shore Eye Associates has been the neighborhood optometrist for North Easton and the South Shore since 1981. This is the story of how — and why — we're still here.
A practice built on continuity when the industry was moving in the opposite direction.
South Shore Eye Associates opened its doors on Depot Street in North Easton in 1981. At the time, the idea was simple: give the South Shore an eye care home — a practice where patients could count on being remembered, not processed.
Over the decades, the industry around us changed. Corporate chains arrived, promising convenience and scale. Assembly-line clinics streamlined exams down to 15 minutes. Patients began seeing different providers every year, re-explaining their history from scratch each visit.
We didn't follow that path. While chains were built for volume, we were built for something else: continuity. The same team. The same faces. The same commitment to knowing our patients over years and decades, not just one appointment at a time.
That's still the practice we are today — and it's the reason patients who got their first eye exams here in the 1980s now bring in their own children and grandchildren.
The team that's been with you all these years.
When you've worked alongside the same people for 25+ years, you notice the difference it makes for patients. There's no learning curve. No re-introduction. Just familiar, trusted care — every single time.

Six things that haven't changed in 44 years.
Continuity of Care Is Not Optional
When the same team sees you year after year, subtle changes get caught. No one else can give you a history they haven't witnessed themselves. We have.
Kids Deserve Patience, Not Speed
Pediatric eye care is only effective when the child is comfortable. We take the time to make every young patient feel safe before we start an exam — no exceptions.
No Surprises. Ever.
You'll know what your exam covers, what your insurance covers, and what you'll pay before you sit in the chair. We believe transparency is just basic respect.
We're Independent By Choice
We've had the opportunity to become part of a chain. We've declined. Every decision here is made locally, for the patients we know personally — not for a quarterly report.
Glasses Should Fit Your Life
The best frame is the one that works for who you actually are — your face, your job, your style. That's a conversation, not a transaction. Our opticians know the difference.
Someone Answers When You Call
Questions don't always happen during business hours. When you call South Shore Eye, a real person who knows your file picks up. That's a commitment we take seriously.
400,000 reasons to keep doing things the right way.
That number represents 44 years of comprehensive eye exams, first glasses fittings for kids who were nervous walking in, follow-up calls from patients who noticed something felt off, and families who trusted us enough to come back every year.
It's not a marketing figure. It's the accumulation of showing up, doing the work, and building a practice that earns patients instead of acquiring them.
"You shouldn't have to choose between a nearby optometrist and one who actually knows you."
Large optical chains have made eye care faster and more convenient. But faster isn't always better when it comes to your vision. The subtle change in your peripheral field that showed up three years ago — and was normal then but matters now — gets caught by a team that has been watching for years.
South Shore Eye Associates was founded on the belief that every patient deserves real time, real attention, and a care team that tracks your history — not just your last prescription. We haven't changed that in 44 years, and we don't intend to.
Schedule Your Exam →What to expect on your first visit.
No confusion, no surprises. Here's exactly how it goes.
A warm welcome from a team that treats you like a person.
When you arrive, our team greets you by name (after your first visit, they'll remember it). We'll confirm your insurance, walk through your history, and make sure you're comfortable before anything else happens.
A thorough exam — not a rushed one.
Your comprehensive eye exam covers more than just your prescription. We check for glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic eye changes, and other early signs of conditions you'd want to know about. We leave time for your questions.
Clear answers about what we found — and what's next.
Before you leave, we explain your results in plain language. If you need glasses or contacts, we help you understand your options. If everything looks great, you'll hear that too. No guesswork, no jargon.
Glasses or contacts, if you need them — right here, right now.
Our optical team can help you find and fit frames the same day. You'll work with someone who knows your prescription, your face, and your lifestyle — not a stranger who just rotated in.
Patients who've been with us for years.
"I've been a patient for over 20 years. In that time, the team has never changed — and neither has the quality of care. They know my history better than I do at this point. I would never go anywhere else."— Long-time patient, Easton, MA
"My parents brought me here as a kid. Now I bring my own kids. The staff has been the same the whole time. There's something really comforting about that — you trust people you've known for years."— Multi-generational family patient, North Easton
